6 Valentine’s gifts for you – it’s all about self-love baby!

It’s officially love month, which means Valentine’s is well and truly on its way.

For some this may be a joyous and exciting day, but for others it can be sad and quite triggering.

Whether you’re in a happy relationship or are single (regretfully or thankfully), on Valentine’s you should celebrate you too, and show yourself some love

Well, they do say that you have to learn to love yourself first before you can love others, right?

In honour of loving yourself this Valentine’s, I’ve found some gift ideas that are the perfect way to treat yourself.

(Well, why not be your biggest secret admirer!)

Valentine’s gifts for you, from you…

1. Journal

There’s nothing better than keeping in touch, and literally taking note of your emotions with a journal.

I track my mood using a journal like this one, and it’s safe to say I see an improvement when doing this. Especially when it comes to what worries I have, things that are bothering me, and any negative thoughts.

You may not want or need a mood tracker as such; you may prefer a basic notepad with a fancy cover that you can use as a journal to scribble away in, literally brain dumping all of your thoughts, which will work in the same manner. (I also have one of these too, which is very useful!).

If you’re an over-thinker, are easily overwhelmed, or struggle communicating your emotions, then I would highly recommend investing in a journal!

2. Flowers

It’s a big tradition to receive flowers (or more specifically roses) for Valentine’s. But whilst it’s super sweet to get flowers from a loved one, who’s to say you can’t buy yourself flowers?

3. A candle

Nothing says self care more than a quiet, calm evening (or day) matched with lighting a beautifully scented candle.

Better yet, what about a sweetly scented candle in the shape of your most favourite animal?!

Well, that’s exactly what I got when I purchased this gorgeous teddy candle from the small business Sicura Candles.

Not only does it smell incredible, but just looking at it makes me smile. An instant mood booster!

4. New pjs

Get comfy with some new loungewear, or even some new pjs if that’s your choice of attire for chilling.

For me, pjs are one of my most favourite things to wear; I have so many I could literally wear a new pair every day of the year.

Lots of retailers and Sainsbury’s in particular have some super cute Valentine’s themed nightwear, from fluffy heart slippers and sweet night dresses to super vibrant red and pink pj sets that scream cuteness overload!! I haven’t purchase any yet, but I know I NEED to (and so do you!).

5. A coffee

A warm beverage is literally a hug in a mug and that’s a sure way to show yourself some love.

Why not treat yourself to a coffee date; spend some time alone and take yourself on a day date! It’s honestly one of my favourite things to do as a day date with myself!

If you’re not a fan of coffee then of course you can pick any beverage of your choice. The whole point is to enjoy your own company in a coffee shop teamed with your favourite warm beverage – sounds delightful doesn’t it?

6. A romantic book

Get lost in the land of love, by curling up with a romantic book. I’m not a big lover of romance books however, when reading them they can spark some joy and giddiness over the whole boy meets girl and falls in love…(we all know how the rest of the story goes).

Yes, the predictable love story is actually quite charming and heart warming at the same time. I mean who doesn’t love, LOVE!

The list of gift ideas for yourself doesn’t stop there; other presents could include a teddy or soft toy to reignite your inner child, sparking some happiness, a brand-new mug with a positive quote as a constant reminder, or some meal vouchers. Again, take yourself on a day or night date indulging in some of your favourite food as a way of showing yourself some love.

Plus, being able to enjoy your own company is such a powerful thing.

Don’t forget to give yourself some love this Valentine’s Day too!
